Wellbeing

We understand that college can be a big step, it can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times – and that’s completely normal.

Our dedicated Student Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team are here to help you manage whatever you are going through, no matter how big or small. If things start to feel like too much, talking to someone can help you make sense of it and feel less alone.  Support is not just about talking; you can also learn new ways to manage stress or other challenges – these are skills that can help you in college and life beyond it.

We help you find the right support for you. Throughout the academic year, we arrange for a number of organisations (such as The Kite Trust, Everyone Health Smoking Cessation, Cambridgeshire Police, Centre 33 and many more!) to visit college during student lunch breaks to provide information and advice. We also provide signposting information or complete referrals to a range of helpful organisations, details of which can be found below.

We also have a young adult carers champion for those students who have caring responsibilities at home for family members. You will be offered a one-to-one appointment to consider how the college can best support you during your time here and there is a weekly Young Adult Carers drop-in available on Wednesdays 3-4pm.

As part of the C-Card scheme, we can provide free condoms to support sexual health – these can be accessed via either the Student Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team or Student Services in the Student Centre.

Health Assured: 24/7 free, confidential wellbeing support - call 0800 028 3766

Health Assured counsellors provide emotional support and practical guidance to students around concerns such as home life and physical and emotional health. They can also help with legal advice for practical concerns such as tenancy or housing concerns. This is a confidential service and the information you discuss is not routinely provided to the college unless your health, wellbeing or welfare is judged to be at imminent risk.

This support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year via telephone or online chat with a counsellor.

Health & Wellbeing Support outside of college

We understand that not all worries happen during term time and the college day, and that some young people feel more comfortable seeking support outside of college. Browse the booklet below to find information on a range of helpful services.
