Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it matter if I don’t put Long Road as my first choice? No – we offer Advice and Guidance Meetings to all applicants who meet the admissions criteria.
- I’ve missed the application deadline, what should I do? The application deadline is 10th January 2023, any applications received after this date may be placed on a waiting list if we are oversubscribed.
- What happens if I’m not predicted a Grade 4 in Maths and/or English GCSE? All options, including re-taking GCSEs, will be discussed with you at your Advice and Guidance Meeting.
- How do I know if my school belongs to Cambridge Area Partnership (CAP)? Click here for a list of all Cambridge Area Partnership schools.
- I currently attend a school that doesn’t belong to the Cambridge Area Partnership (CAP). Will this affect my application? We welcome applicants from all schools and treat all applications equally, regardless of the school attended
- What happens if I am moving into the area from another part of the UK or abroad? You need to apply via our website using this link: MyLongRoad. If applying from overseas, we will consider your application based on the comparability of your qualifications to UK GCSEs. Additional information such as school transcripts or travel documents may also be requested via email – these can be sent to admissions@longroad.ac.uk.
- Do you accept IGCSEs? Yes, we accept all qualifications equivalent to GCSEs. If you are unsure about your qualifications please email admissions@longroad.ac.uk
- Can I apply to study both A Levels and Level 3 Diplomas? Yes, there are lots of possible combinations of courses which are explained in our Prospectus. You will need to meet the entry requirements for all courses you wish to study; entry requirements can be found on individual course pages.
- How do I access my application? You can log in to your MyLongRoad application here: Login
- How do I reset my application password? The password reset link as follows: Password Reset
- How do I change my address or contact details? You must first log in to your MyLongRoad application, before clicking “Personal Details”. If you wish to change your parent/carer’s details, please select “Emergency Contact 1” or “Emergency Contact 2”. If you have lost access to your application and need to change your personal email address, please contact admissions@longroad.ac.uk.
- What happens if I want to change one of my subjects after my application? You will have the opportunity to discuss your subjects and make changes to your application at your Advice and Guidance Meeting. If you wish you make any changes after this please email admissions@longroad.ac.uk. A further opportunity to request changes to your study programme will also be available during enrolment, once you have obtained your final results.
- What happens at the Advice and Guidance Meetings? Our Advice & Guidance Meetings are informal discussions, lasting around 25 minutes, with an experienced member of our staff. You will discuss your subjects, extracurricular interests and career aspirations with your interviewer who will be able to offer advice and guidance on your study programme. It is also your opportunity to discuss any additional support you may require. Your parent/carer is encouraged to attend your Advice and Guidance Meeting with you.
- What if I can’t book a meeting on one of the designated days? Don’t worry, you will be contacted by our admissions team about arranging a meeting at a later point. Please remember, the date of your guidance meeting does not impact your application in any way.
- What happens after my Advice and Guidance Meeting? Your interviewer will update your MyLongRoad application account with your chosen courses and conditional offer. You will be sent a confirmation email alerting you to the update. Once you have received this confirmation email you need to log in to your MyLongRoad account to accept the offer. Click here to log in to your account.
- Can I transfer to Long Road mid-year? Unfortunately it is very unlikely that we would be able to offer you a place with us after September. You are welcome to contact the admissions department for more information.
- How do I upload my GCSE results? Please click here for step-by-step instructions.
- I've missed the deadline for uploading my exam results, what should I do? Submit your grades to your MyLongRoad account as soon as possible an email admissions@longroad.ac.uk
- What happens if I haven't met the entry criteria for my courses? Please make sure you submit your grades to your MyLongRoad account. Once you have submitted your results, we will be able to schedule an enrolment meeting with you to discuss your options. All enrolment meetings will take place on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st August.
- What happens during my Enrolment Meeting? The meeting is an opportunity to discuss any changes to your study programme. This will be held over the phone, using the mobile number we have on record for you. You will receive an email notifying you of an update to your MyLongRoad account. Once you log in you will see the date and time of your enrolment meeting. It will list a date followed by either one of these times: 9am or 1pm.
- Please note that these times reflect AM and PM time slots rather than actual times.
So, for example:- If you have been sent an invitation for 30th August at 09:00 AM then this means that a member of the team will ring you on 30th August at some time in the AM time slot between 9am and 12pm. Please make sure you are available for this 3-hour window.
- If you have been sent an invitation for 30th August at 13:00 PM then this means that a member of the team will ring you on 30th August at some time in the PM time slot between 1pm and 4pm. Please make sure you are available for this 3-hour window.

Please remember you can accept and hold a number of offers from different post-16 providers until you receive your GCSE results in August.
