Travelling to College

Please be aware there is no student parking on-campus or in the surrounding areas.

We encourage students to join us in going green by using alternative travel options, such as public transport. For students able to cycle to college, we have numerous bike racks and a OFO bike sharing station on-campus.

Bus 

Long Road Sixth Form College is served well by local bus services and is on the Cambridge Guided Busway.  Journeys can either be direct to the College, or may mean a change in Cambridge City Centre. The closest bus stops to the College are Robinson Way, Puddicombe Way, Long Road and Royal Papworth Hospital. Ten minutes walk away is the bus station of Addenbrookes Hospital. 

Many bus companies are offering multi operator tickets and reduced fares.  Please contact the individual operator for details.

Cambridgeshire Guided Busway

The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway provides a direct route to the college from Huntingdon and St.Ives and Cambridge Railway Station. There is a bus stop immediately next to the college in Puddicombe Way. Click here for more information on routes and up-to-date travel fares.

Discounted Travel

If you choose to travel by bus you may be able to receive discounted travel in the form of a Student Bus Pass. Many bus companies are offering multi operator tickets and reduced fares.  Please click on the links above to contact the individual operator for details.

Support for low income households

Assistance may also be given for public transport, if the local County Council is unable to fully assist. Students aged over 16 but under 19 on 1 September 2023 from a low income household (under £25,000 per annum) can apply for assistance through this scheme.

Train

Cambridge Railway Station is the closest station to the College approximately 1.5 miles away. The college runs its own FREE Shuttle Bus for Long Road students from Bus Stop 4 at Cambridge Railway station throughout the College day. You can find more information on the Shuttle Bus at the bottom of this page. 

Alternatively, the walk from Cambridge Railway Station is approximately a 25-minute walk or 10-minute cycle. We have numerous bike racks and a OFO bike sharing station on-campus

Long Road Shuttle Bus

The college runs its own FREE Shuttle Bus for Long Road students from Cambridge Railway station throughout the College day. Students must produce their Long Road Student ID Card in order to use the Shuttle Bus. 

Places on the shuttle bus are limited and are on a first-come-first-served basis. It is a good idea to investigate alternative means of transport in case a place is not available for you. Priority bus passes are issued to students with difficult journeys, particularly those making connections to further buses and trains.
