NEU Industrial Action - February & March 2023

Members of the National Education Union (NEU) will be taking industrial action on four dates throughout February & March 2023.  We will remain open as usual, but lessons will take place online. See below for further information.

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

We have received confirmation this week from the National Education Union (NEU) that further industrial action is planned for February and March.

As you are aware, the NEU's dispute is with the Secretary of State for Education as they have ‘failed to give an undertaking to make available additional and sufficient funds to allow employers to pay a fully funded increase in the pay of teachers in sixth form colleges at a rate greater than inflation (as measured by May 2022 RPI of 11.7%)

Unless an agreement is reached with Government in the next few weeks, the strikes will take place on :

  • Wednesday 1st February
  • Wednesday 1st March
  • Wednesday 15th March
  • Thursday 16th March

To ensure students do not waste time and money travelling in for classes that may be disrupted because of the strikes, lessons will take place online.

We will remain open on each of the strike days and students are welcome to come in and use our facilities for independent study. The Food Centre will provide a service and sporting fixtures will take place as usual. Some classes may take place on campus and your teacher will let you know if that is the case.

We recognise the concern that many may feel at the loss of 4 days of learning, please do not worry, we will be back in touch shortly with advice and support to help you make the most effective use of this time.

Best wishes,
Yolanda
