English students watch Othello by candlelight!

Last week, our Year 2 English Language and Literature students visited the Sam Wanamaker studio in the Globe to watch Othello by candlelight!

This modern take on one of Shakespeare's classics see's 16th century Venice transformed into modern-day London, and Othello himself being reimagined as a MET Chief of Police. The play explores racism and misogyny in a modern-day context, and highlights how many of the issues faced by successful black people in the 16th century remain present in modern day society.

All of our students loved the experience, so much so that they were inspired to recreate the Globe Theatre in cake form - a treat that was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole class!
