Alumni Spotlight: Brooke

This month's Alumni spotlight is on former student Brooke, who graduated from Long Road in 2024 after completing their studies in Politics A Level, Media A Level and Criminology Level 3 Extended Certificate.

Since leaving Long Road I've been to demonstrations organised by Republic and attended the second national congress of the Revolutionary Communist Party. In addition to this, I have also just started my first year at ARU studying Politics and International Relations.

I chose to study at Long Road has a welcoming atmosphere and the teachers are friendly, in addition to the criminology having a (fake, hopefully!) dead body which caught my eye during the open evening and led to me putting Long Road as my primary 6th Form. My favourite memory of the college is the Pride Club meetings as well as the time Matt Hancock visited as part of the Politics Course and me (somehow) getting him to sign my Communist Manifesto!

My advice to new students is don't stress too much over what subjects to pick, you can easily swap subjects within your first year. I started out studying Geography instead of Media and all I had to do to switch was attend a meeting with the subject head and complete the summer work.
