Media Magazine Production Awards 2025

Last week Andrea Joyce, Film Studies Course Team Leader, headed down to London with a group of our film and media students for the Media Magazine Production Awards ceremony 2025.  Always an exciting event, made even more exciting with the announcement of student Logan Bye as the winner!

Andrea tells us all about it below...

Wow, wow, wow, it is always such a a highlight of my year to make the journey to BFi Southbank to take part in the Media Magazine Production Awards ceremony.

This year it was a tough journey due to the extreme heat but even more worth it. I not only got to present the award for Creativity in memory of a much loved and much missed colleague, Barney Oram. But I also got to see three of our very own Long Road A Level Film students have their work screened in NFT1 - the biggest screen at the BFi. And how spectacular their films looked and very much holding their own in a strong category of other short films and openings. Logan Bye, Lucy Bryant and James Robinson were all in attendance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of seeing their work in such an illustrious setting - Tom Cruise was interviewed there very recently.

I was feeling optimistic as guest judge Nina McCallum gave their expert feedback which was glowing, insightful and wonderful to hear that someone of Nina's professional experience and calibre had such positive things to say about all three short films.

Then came the drumroll as Nina announced the winner... huge congratulations to Logan Bye for winning with ‘Dungeons and Daddy Issues’. Nina praised Logan's ability to cleverly craft humour in their piece which Nina pointed out is very hard to do and Logan did so well. We are really proud of all our shortlisted students.
