Careers Fair 2026

This week, we were delighted to host one of the largest events in our careers programme, the Annual Careers Fair. The event welcomed more than 600 students and brought together over 18 employers and education providers from a wide range of industries.

Students had the opportunity to meet representatives from organisations including: Grant Thornton, Cambridge University Hospitals, Ashtons Legal, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Regional College, Mace Group, AstraZeneca, Gs-Fresh, MBDA, TSA Riley, Royal Papworth Hospital, Department for Work and Pensions, Venner Shipley, NHS Medical Phototherapy Addenbrookes, ADAS, Price Bailey, Kindred FM, and College of West Anglia.

A huge thank-you goes to all the Long Road progress coaches and teachers who volunteered their time to support the event or brought their class down to participate, so students could explore career pathways and gain valuable insight into the world of work.

Students responded well to the fair, with many opting to attend independent of their classes. 87% of participating students rating the event positively, giving the Careers Fair four or five stars. Additionally, 83% of students said the event helped improve their confidence when speaking with employers.

Building confidence and communication skills is a vital part of preparing young people for life beyond sixth form. While qualifications remain important, confidence, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential qualities which help a young person stand out in the job market. Students will soon have the chance to sign up for the CV and Mock Interview Clinic on Wednesday, 25th November to improve those skills further! Keep an eye out for the sign-up form.

More career events are coming soon: we continue to host university information drop-in stands throughout the year, providing information on UCAS and studies after Long Road, and our next major careers' event, the Apprenticeship Information Evening, takes place in February, which parents are invited to attend too.

Watch upcoming college communications to save the date and learn more about careers.
