Congratulations Class of 2026

Today is a brilliant day at Long Road as we celebrate the achievements of our Results Day 2026 students – all under glorious blue skies and sunshine, which has made the atmosphere around the college feel extra special.

Our students have worked incredibly hard over the past two years, showing determination, resilience and plenty of perseverance along the way. We couldn’t be prouder of everything they have achieved.

Our students are now heading off in all sorts of exciting directions, including Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, highly competitive degree apprenticeships and apprenticeships, and the world of work. Whatever their next step, we are delighted to see them heading into the future with the confidence, skills and ambition they have developed at Long Road.

We can’t wait to see what they do next. Whatever the future holds, we wish every one of our students the very best of luck – and we hope they’ll always remember that they will be part of the Long Road community.

Congratulations to Emily on successfully completing her studies in Geography, Sociology and Criminology. Emily will now be starting a Degree Apprenticeship with Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

"I’ve always wanted to be a police officer. When I was young, I didn’t know that I could do that because I didn’t see many female police officers. I want to help children and vulnerable people, especially those who are victims of rape and sexual assault. I prefer to do a degree apprenticeship which I found at ARU. My favourite thing about Long Road has been the support from my teachers, especially in Sociology. I also really enjoyed Culture Day. I live really far away, so travelling to college took a long time, but I made a special effort for Culture Day. I would like to say a special thank you to Emma Dobson for supporting me."

Congratulations to Jeffrey on successfully completing his studies in Computing, IT and Business. Jeffrey is now studying an AWS course on Cloud Computing and looking for an apprenticeship that matches his passions.

"I’m really interested in Cloud Engineering, but generally I have a passion for IT, digital systems, cybersecurity, and the links it has with engineering in terms of integrating coding and software.

In my time at Long Road, I have been a student governor, worked with Unloc, worked with the youth council, and I was part of the youth social action campaign for extending the Tiger Bus Pass. I got to speak to Paul Bristow, the Mayor of Cambridge, and we managed to convince him to extend the bus pass for young people for another year. The whole thing was a really nice experience, especially working with Charlotte Smith who helped organise everything. What I also love about Long Road is that it’s a diverse community.

I would like to thank my dad. When I lost my computer 1 week before a deadline, he bought me a new laptop and I got a really good grade on that piece of coursework. The college board of governors, they were really nice people and always open to hearing student opinions. I had a great college experience, and it helped shape who I am as a person. And, of course the teachers, for sending me resources and always being helpful. Domenico Petrelli especially."
