Young Changemakers Elevate Youth Work Experience Debate in Westminster

Last week, student Ryan Nyazamba had the exciting opportunity to visit the House of Lords as part of an event organised by Unloc aiming to give young people a voice on the issues that matter.
I had a fantastic opportunity to visit the House of Lords in Westminster this afternoon and meet some truly inspiring and insightful business leaders. Hearing their perspectives on the challenges faced by young people — such as the lack of work experience — was eye-opening. It gave me hope that there are leaders out there who are willing to take a chance on those without experience as they search for their first job. I learnt that I must go the extra mile to stand out in order to gain the opportunities I want.
We were each given the chance to speak about a problem we had faced. I spoke about work experience and posed a question to the business leaders:
"How am I supposed to gain the work experience required for my first job if no one is willing to take a chance on someone without experience?"
Recently, I had the opportunity to network with Lord Hastings and several renowned global business leaders and authors, including Pablo Lloyd and Dan Taylor, Managing Director at Morgan Hunt. As a member of the UNLOC UK Youth Board, I attended this event at the House of Lords in Westminster, London.
I spoke about the challenges young people face when seeking their first job, especially the struggle to gain experience for entry-level roles. The event was highly productive, giving me the opportunity to share my perspective, build confidence, and connect with inspiring individuals who are passionate about creating better opportunities for young people.
