Innovators in the Making: A Graphic Design Showcase at St John’s

This exhibition showcases the exciting and diverse work of students studying Level 3 Applied Graphic Design at Long Road Sixth Form College. The images across the exhibition show work from a wide range of different units that the students study, focusing on briefs such as magazine design, record sleeve design, book cover design and a variety of personal projects.

Across the course, students develop a wide variety of both digital and analogue skills, which you can see showcased throughout the exhibition. These include digital drawing and painting, photo manipulation, analogue collage and typography techniques. Students work with industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, while also exploring traditional approaches such as printmaking and hand-rendered type.

The course places strong emphasis on preparing students for real-world creative practice. Exhibiting their work at the St John’s Innovation Centre gives them the opportunity to share their designs beyond the college environment and to experience what it means to present professional work within a public and industry-focused setting.
