At Long Road we share a passion for learning and its capacity to transform lives; encouraging and inspiring our students to be the best that they can be. In order to achieve this vision we work closely with each and every one of our students both inside and outside the classroom.
We know that while moving to a larger college brings our students a whole new world of opportunities and experiences, it can also sometimes be a daunting process. To make sure that you feel right at home we give all of our students a Progress Coach; a dedicated member of staff who will help and support you as you settle into Long Road life. Your Progress Coach will be your primary point of contact for any questions you have about college life and how to be successful.
Every student has a challenging but achievable set of targets, and our system of Progress Coaches is designed to ensure that students fulfil their potential. Your own Progress Coach will help you draw up an individual learning plan, and you’ll have one-to-one meetings to make sure you’re on target. They will work in partnership with you and your parents or carers, keeping them up-to-date with your effort, achievement, attendance and punctuality. Your teachers, your Progress Coach and our Careers Department will work with you to make sure that everything is in place for what follows at the end of your course.
You will receive:
- Group tutorials, where you will get to know other students, your Progress Coach and Long Road.
- Individual support on how to achieve at college and get the most out of your time here.
- Advice and guidance on careers, apprenticeships and university pathways.
As you move through college life your Progress Coach will be on hand to help you plan and achieve your next steps after Long Road.
