This one-year Level 4 qualification is a fast, exciting course that is set up for creative post A Level students to develop a bespoke portfolio that supports a range of professional opportunities and access to universities.  You will be taught by industry specialists on a course that regularly involves visits and projects run by professional practitioners. Creative thinking is fortified through the use of critiques, tutorials, peer feedback and a range of exciting briefs. The programme builds on students’ prior experience, linking skills already acquired with ideas and challenges, which will increase their independence and enable them to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards necessary to progress to Higher Education, competitive internships or full-time work.

We pride ourselves on our extensive range of creative facilities, our Visual Arts department is home to 12 art studios, 3 Photography studios and a Photography darkroom. Teaching on the Foundation Art and Design course includes twilight sessions enabling students to fully use the technology and equipment in our purpose-built studios.

After completing this qualification the majority of students will move into higher education, many universities require applicants to have completed a foundation course such as this for entry into art and design-based courses. Previous Long Road Foundation Art and Design students have won London-based internships from opportunities attached to the course and have progressed on to a range of exciting university courses at leading institutes in the UK and overseas.
