A Levels are internationally recognised and respected two-year academic qualifications which you can take in a variety of subjects. You need to choose 3 A Level courses to create your full study programme. At Long Road we offer you the widest choice of courses to build your unique study programme. Our specialist staff will offer you advice and guidance on subject combinations that will best enable you to reach your future career goals. We will also help you research different universities and degree courses, using this information to tailor your study programme to suit your career aspirations.
You will find our campus environment is very similar to that found at universities across the UK, we have created this atmosphere to encourage your learning to flourish. You will have independent study periods which you can spend in our dedicated study spaces across campus. Studying at Sixth Form College requires high levels of student participation, you will take part in mature group discussions and debates, carry out research on varied topics and give presentations to your classmates. It is important to us that we give you individual feedback on your work and progress, so we ensure that you are taught in small classes where our specialist, friendly teachers can give you 1-to-1 attention and personal guidance.

Level 4 Foundation Art and Design
This one-year Level 4 qualification is a fast, exciting course that is set up for creative post A Level students to develop a bespoke portfolio that supports a range of professional opportunities and access to universities. You will be taught by industry specialists on a course that regularly involves visits and projects run by professional practitioners. Creative thinking is fortified through the use of critiques, tutorials, peer feedback and a range of exciting briefs. The programme builds on students’ prior experience, linking skills already acquired with ideas and challenges, which will increase their independence and enable them to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards necessary to progress to Higher Education, competitive internships or full-time work.
We pride ourselves on our extensive range of creative facilities, our Visual Arts department is home to 12 art studios, 3 Photography studios and a Photography darkroom. Teaching on the Foundation Art and Design course includes twilight sessions enabling students to fully use the technology and equipment in our purpose-built studios.
After completing this qualification the majority of students will move into higher education, many universities require applicants to have completed a foundation course such as this for entry into art and design-based courses. Previous Long Road Foundation Art and Design students have won London-based internships from opportunities attached to the course and have progressed on to a range of exciting university courses at leading institutes in the UK and overseas.
