A great time was had by all at our Wellbeing Fair last Thursday! Students were able to take part in a range of activities to help with their own wellbeing, and given information on how they can help others wellbeing through volunteering and campaigning activities. When asked what her favourite activity of the fair was Tabitha said “All of them! Particularly volunteering and the animals. From this event I want to try out volunteering”.
Back by popular demand was Dylan the therapy dog, who was this year joined by Glimfeather the Barn Owl and two of his bunny rabbit friends. Student feedback overwhelmingly focused on how much students enjoyed getting to know the therapy animals, with Louis saying he “really enjoyed seeing the Owl and the Bunnies” and that after the Welllbeing Fair he’s looking to “spend more time with animals” when he’s trying to relax. Money raised from the Long Road staff summer barbeque was also donated to Kindhart; the animal therapy charity who organised the visit from Glimfeather and his rabbit friends.
But cuddles with fluffy animals wasn’t all that was on offer! Students were also given the chance to have a game of Table tennis, take part in Yoga, have a go at Hula Hooping and book inductions for the new Long Road college gym. Seb particularly enjoyed Yoga, saying that after the Wellbeing Fair he wants to try “Yoga and exercise to increase endorphins!”
An Art Therapy stall was also set up were students were able to make their own pompoms. There were also multiple stalls set up with information for students on how they can get involved with the activities they had experienced at the Wellbeing Fair, and wider volunteering opportunities in the local areas!
