Last week our team of Year 1 Physics students attended the launch of the Engineering Education Scheme project, where they met their mentor engineers from ARM for the first time.
The session was in the Cambridge University Engineering department and the team were given the task of building a structure that would allow a marble to roll down from a set height as slowly as possible, a marble roller coaster. Much fun was had and all the 5 teams form other schools and colleges were very competitive.
The mentors were very positive about the team’s ideas for the project: essentially they are given and ARM microprocessor and can use it to do whatever they think is needed, they are challenged to try to change the world!
This years team is Aditi, Diana, Ryan, Ben, Dayyan, Adam; all Year 1 Physics students who were selected from their applications to be involved in the project. The programme is run by EDT; the team will be working for 6 months with the ARM engineers to produce a prototype, a technical report and present their project to a team of professional engineers. Good luck!
