Tea and cake in Granchester

Posted on

The Orchard Tea Gardens are a popular and much-loved venue for afternoon tea.  Many famous figures have links to the tea rooms, including Rupert Brooke and Virginia Woolf.

“We decided that this would be the perfect place to take our Year 1 Performance Studies students,” says Sarah Stow, Performing Arts Course Team Leader. “As part of their course, the students have to devise a performance inspired by their local community.”

The students visited the Rupert Brooke Museum, which is on the site of the tea rooms, to find out more about his life and his poetry. There was then a chance to try out the famous deckchairs – and a slice of chocolate cake.
