Last week a group of our students were lucky enough to have a tailored tour of Selwyn College, University of Cambridge!
This visit was for a group of students who are interested in applying to Oxbridge or Russell Group universities, giving them an insight into what life is like as a university student and how they can boost their university applications. The visit involved lunch in the dining hall, a tour of Selwyn College with current students and a presentation and questions with Dr Wise, Schools Liaison Officer.
Our students were treated to a personalised and tailored tour of the college with student guides, giving our Long Road students the opportunity to ask them questions and learn more about the life of a Cambridge University undergraduate and the facilities available to them. This was followed by lunch in the dining hall where students and staff have their meals, giving our Long Road students a first-hand experience of how it would feel to be a student at Selwyn College!
Dr Wise and a group of Selwyn College students gave a presentation in the afternoon, offering insight into some of the other Cambridge colleges and giving their views on the lifestyle of a Cambridge undergraduate, sharing details of the level of commitment to study required by Cambridge University students. Our students were interested to learn that terms are only 8 weeks in duration – a very intense 8 weeks!
A very interesting and useful visit for both our staff and students, thank you Selwyn College
