Students experience the Cancer Research UK Virtual Reality Life Garden

Posted on

Four Biology students, Thania Zillu, Zoe Newton, Thomas Hutchcraft and Rachel Goodchild (left to right in bottom right photo) visited Cancer Research UK to find out more about the institute’s work. While they were there, they were able to try out the virtual reality version of the Cancer Research Life Garden, which won a bronze medal at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The virtual garden has more than 100,000 flowers, one for each person who has left a gift in their will to the charity.  Paul Andrew, Head of Biology, says:  “None of us had put on a VR headset before. You could look in any direction to see the floral display – the only disconcerting thing was when you looked down , your own body wasn’t there!”
