This year’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) career programme, run in conjunction with Career Ready, was launched in college this week. Applied Science Level 3 students are particular beneficiaries of the programme.
The introductory session focused on skills analysis (both personal and employability) and gave details on how the programme would help our students target appropriate employers, develop networking skills and make useful contacts.
The programme will consist of three or four masterclasses and four or five visits to STEM firms. These visits will incorporate relevant and interesting activities to deepen students’ understanding of the STEM industry.
There will be work on interview techniques, and students will have mock interviews with staff from the firms they have visited.
