In 2016 Long Road Sixth Form College was shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement (TES) Sixth Form College of the Year award as one of the top sixth form colleges in the country.
This year we’re delighted to announce that one of our teachers, Tom Genillard, course team leader for the Level 3 Applied Criminology Diploma, is one of eight people across the country who has been shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year award. Not only was Tom one of the many Long Road teachers nominated by our students, but he has also built up the Diploma from a new course in September 2016 to the second most popular subject in the college. He was also shortlisted for the excellent external links he has developed and his work with other staff across Long Road.
What’s more, Tom is a member of the sizeable group of staff members who studied at Long Road: English Language, Sociology, Psychology and PE – and loved it so much here that he came back to work – and he’s also a rugby coach!
We’ll find out on 23rd February how Tom has done – there’s an award ceremony in London.
