South Cambs District Council: (Local Democracy Week Open Day)

Long Road students took part in the debates held at the District Council to mark Local Democracy Week.
The programme was:
10.00 – Welcome from Cllr Tony Orgee, Chairman of South Cambridgeshire District Council
10.15 – Launch of South Cambridgeshire Youth Council – Cllr Sue Ellington, Tracy Mann (Development Officer, SCDC)
10.45 – The Election Process Presentation & question and answer session – Paul Howes (SCDC Corporate Manager, Community & Customer Services)
11.15 – Working in the Public Sector & question and answer session – Holly Adams (SCDC Democratic Services Team Leader) and Susan Gardner Craig (SCDC HR Manager)
12.30 – Lunch
13.00 – UK Youth Parliament presentation & questions and answer session – UK Youth Parliament
13.30 – Youth Debate preparation
14.00 – Youth Debate: The voting age should be dropped to 16: For
14.15 – Youth Debate: The voting age should be dropped to 16: Against
14.30 – Youth Debate: Vote
15.00 – Question and answer session with district councillors
