Congratulations to Sophie Pedder on reaching the final of the English Schools’ Athletic Association senior 2017 cross-county event.
Sophie is taking the Sport Level 3 Applied Diploma and English Language and Literature A level, and is no stranger to success in athletics events. She is also a keen and talented triathlon competitor.
“I train every day before and after college. I swim at Luton Inspire then alternate between running at the Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Club and cycling near where I live. For the triathlon I have to cover 5kms, and it is the same for the cross-country event. I took up competitive sport about three years ago and have taken part in the national British Triathlon Youth & Junior Super Series.
“To reach the final of the cross-country competition, I had to go through preliminary rounds to be selected as a country team member. The final takes place on 18th March at the Norfolk Showground near Norwich.
“Yes, it would be great to take part in the Olympics – I’m just focusing on reaching smaller goals at the moment, but hope it continues to go well.”
