Sociology A level students travelled to Liverpool and Manchester this summer. They stayed in university halls of residence at Liverpool University for three nights and visited a number of places relevant to their course. They had a guided tour of Belle Vale Police Station and a talk on metropolitan policing, visited a youth centre to talk to a social worker about working with young offenders, and fitted in visits to the Albert Dock, a comedy club and the statues by Anthony Gormley on Crosby Beach, as well as a ride on the Mersey Ferry. They also had a guided tour and talk about Sociology and Criminology degrees at the University of Liverpool. During a day in Manchester they had a guided tour and talk at Manchester Metropolitan University, toured the People’s History Museum to learn about Marxism and Feminism, and visited Media City.
