Nick Mulvey is an English musician, singer and songwriter who studied Music Technology, Film Studies and English Language and Literature at Long Road. After leaving Long Road he moved to Havana in Cuba to study music and art. He then enrolled at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London, to study Ethnomusicology.
While at university, Nick co-founded the Portico Quartet, whose debut album, Knee-Deep in the North Sea, was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize. Nick left Portico Quartet in 2011 to focus on a solo career as a singer-songwriter. Nick has toured here and abroad (including performing at the Wonderfruit Festival in Pattaya, Thailand) and is currently on tour to promote his album Wake Up Now. Nick very kindly took some time out of his schedule to talk to our Media Level 3 Diploma students about his work in the music industry and, in particular, music videos. Producing a music video is one of the options available to our students, so this was extremely useful.
