Rianna D’Souza, who took A levels in Politics, English Literature and Politics at Long Road in 2015, was elected as an independent representative for St Ives South in the May elections. Rianna, who is 18, is the youngest representative on the council, but isn’t daunted by this. She aims to work for better street lighting and road safety in the town to reduce accidents, and hopes that her age will inspire other young people to become involved.
While at Long Road, Rianna made the most of the opportunities available to her, taking part in a mock trial at Anglia Ruskin University, being on the Student Committee and serving as one of the two Student Governors.
Rianna has an apprenticeship with Cambridge University Press and came to the 2016 Long Road Careers Progression Event (main photo: Rianna is on the left).
