Police talk to Criminology students on domestic abuse

Posted on

Criminology students attended a talk by Detective Sergeant Ashley Ryan, who is in charge of domestic abuse awareness for Cambridgeshire. He discussed the reasons why this crime has become the most under-reported crime in the UK and what the consequences may be for the individual victims, and society as a whole, if this crime is not reported to the police.

DS Ryan also provided relevant case studies from his job and answered questions from our students.

The event was part of a programme of talks and visits for Criminology students. Also this week they are visiting Cambridge Crown Court, and next week they will be hearing about the work of an eminent pathologist.
