Last week, our Year 1 A-level Film Studies students went to the Watersprite Film Festival recently, a film festival created and organised by students from both Anglia Ruskin and Cambridge Universities. Watersprite hosts a variety of events promoting independent cinema from around the world and was an ideal chance for the students from Long Road to experience films from outside their typical viewing habits.
The aim of the visit was simple: to watch a selection of Award-nominated short films produced by students from UK Universities, gaining inspiration and ideas to potentially use in their own upcoming film productions. Whilst the creators of the films at Watersprite might have more experience as filmmakers, the Long Road students have been set the challenge of emulating (or even surpassing) the quality and originality of these established filmmakers. We can’t wait to see what they produce!
