Long Road students Nipun Islam, Shaun Louis, Callum Brown, Julia Begum and Moushomi (Ripa) Begum spoke to Year 9 students across the region at a three-day event organised by Anglia Ruskin University. The aim of the event, Eyes on the Prize, is to get Year 9 students thinking about their future while they are considering their GCSE options. The school students had a presentation and a tour of the university before visiting sixth form, higher education and employment-related stands.
Long Road Sixth Form College marketing officer Jane Grant says: “This is an excellent event which gives year 9s an opportunity to think about what might come after their GCSEs – and as a result to think very carefully about their year 9 options process. We are very grateful to Anglia Ruskin University for inviting us to the event. Above all though, I would like to thank Nipun, Shaun, Callum, Julia and Ripa for their hard work and enthusiasm. It is very useful for younger students to talk to our current students as it helps them to get a better idea of what study at a sixth form college entails and how it can help them in the transition to higher education or employment.”
