Level 3 Art & Design gained useful work experience when they visited a local school. Karen Little, course team leader, reports:
Our students spent a day at Newnham Croft Primary School teaching Year 4 students. The theme for the day was Chinese New Year. The children spent the morning completing a large-scale collage dragon. In the afternoon they made 3D-textile Chinese lanterns. Our students worked really hard and were fantastic in their enthusiasm and skill engaging and supporting the children.
Gemma Pritchard, Year 1 student, says: “I really enjoyed my day placement at the primary school. It was a great experience. Working with children is a possible career option for me, and the day gave me an excellent insight into what it would involve.”
Sam Byrne, Year 1 student, says: “Thank you for a great experience. I really enjoyed helping and teaching young children new techniques. I thought my group worked really well on the collage using paint and various papers.”
Shannon Clifford, Year 2 student says: “I felt like I really got to know the children I worked with and was amazed at how mature they are.”
Jessica Moorhouse, Year 2 student says: “Amazing experience. I loved every minute and would like to do this again. I really enjoyed being with the children and getting to know each child’s personality.”
