Kea Haw, Geography degree, University of Manchester

Posted on

Kea Haw left Long Road a few years ago, starting her life as a Long Road Alumni! She got in touch to let us know how she is getting on…

“I am now in my third year at the University of Manchester studying Geography on track for at least a 2:1. I have secured a graduate scheme as a transport planner in an infrastructure and development consultancy, a career which many geographers go into (despite at A-level not having heard of ‘planning’).”

“Doug and Chris taught my A-level Geography at Long Road where I also studied Applied science and Business. The teaching at long road prepared me for the independent study which was to follow at university. Whilst teachers were always available and happy to clarify any concerns I had, they did not spoon feed information or teach directly out of a textbook. You were encouraged to research further into academic and news articles to help apply classroom contexts to the real world.”

“I also found small classes very helpful, it made learning more enjoyable. The Barcelona trip was the best part of sixth form.”
