Graphic Design students work with Addenbrooke’s Hospital

Posted on

The IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) research team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital contacted Long Road Sixth Form College to see if students could design some promotional materials to encourage patients with irritable bowel disease to take part in research studies. Vasculitis and IBD Data Manager, Angela Reynolds, wanted our students to initially design a logo, with the opportunity to design a leaflet and other promotional materials later on.

The live brief was given to both first year and second year Level 3 Graphic Design students who could take the project on as an enrichment task. The winning design, produced by second year student Tom French, will be used across a variety of platforms, and printed onto lanyards which the Addenbrooke’s staff will wear. Tom is very excited to have his design work used in such a professional setting.

Lia Hooks, year 2, was also commended for her friendly illustration which she entered into the competition. Tom has now been set the challenge to incorporate Lia’s cartoon, which highlights the area of the body affected by IBD, into a leaflet design for the team.

The designs will be launched in January at an event promoting IBD awareness at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
