Centre 33, a local counselling service for young people, contacted Emma Burton, Graphic Design course team leader, asking for feedback and input from our Level 3 Graphic Design students on their new logo design. Centre 33 are currently rebranding, and they were looking for students with design knowledge to comment on the range of ideas drawn up by their graphic designer. They wanted to involve young people in the design process as much as possible, as working with young people is the focus of their organisation.
Michelle Birch from Centre 33 sent over a presentation of the current ideas for the logo, website, colours and typefaces. The students then discussed the designs together and gave written feedback on post-it notes to send back to Michelle. Centre 33 will then use this feedback to develop their final brand identity.
“This was a great experience for our students, as they had the opportunity to see how professional designers present their work to their clients, and they gained an insight into the professional design process. They were also able to use their evaluative skills to consider what is successful in brand and logo design.”
