Luke Morris, of Larking Gowen, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, and, in a personal capacity, Deputy Chairman of Business for Britain East of England, pitted his wits against Dr Geoffrey Edwards, Senior Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Relations and Emeritus Reader in European Studies, representing Cambridge for Europe, in front of an audience of Long Road Politics students.
Both spoke eloquently of democracy, sovereignty, electability, the Schengen Area, money (do we get back what we pay?) trade (do we gain or do we lose?), harmony, discord and VAT. Students posed questions on subjects such asTed Heath’s secret agenda, how easy it is to change the EU, whether we actually need to be within a single market and immigration, both within and from outside the EU.
Dave Evans, Head of Politics, thanked Mr Morris and Dr Edwards for visiting the college – and reminded students to cast their vote on 23rd June.
