English Language students visit The British Library

Posted on

English Language A level students visited the British Library in London to take part in Exploring English and Sounds Familiar workshops led by British Library research staff. In Exploring English, students had an opportunity to develop skills in language analysis and interpretation. The workshop also involved exploring original manuscripts in the Treasures Gallery, such as part of a letter by Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to Cardinal Wolsey, an extract from Charles Dickens’ Nicholas Nickleby and original Beatles’ lyrics, to name but a few!

In Sounds Familiar, experts in English accents and dialects introduced students to ways of analysing spoken English.
