Drama students enjoy Splendid Theatre workshop

Posted on

AS Drama students recently took part in a workshop run by Splendid Theatre Company. The workshop focussed on Steven Berkoff, a renowned theatre practitioner, whose works include Shakespeare’s Villains, East, Metamorphosis and The Secret Life of Ophelia. Both workshops were run by Kerry Frampton, a professional actor and director, and each lasted for three hours. Students undertook exercises including physical characterisation work, mime, soundscapes and chorus work as well as looking at extracts of Berkoff’s scripts. This is what our students had to say about the workshop:

“It was a very energetic workshop and was lots of fun. I learned a lot that was useful for both my practical exam and the written paper.” (Molly Bentley A2 Drama)

“I really liked the intensity of the experience. The way Kerry interacted with us was excellent: she didn’t patronise us. The group movement exercises were particularly useful.” (Chris Newbery A2 Drama)

“It was an incredible, thought-provoking workshop. Future students should definitely get involved in these kins of experience.” (Tom Glimarten A2 Drama)

“Kerry kept you interested throughout and recognised you as an individual. It really boosted my confidence, learning from a professional actor and director.” (Molly Takacs AS Drama)
