Christmas Concert at Michaelhouse a glittering event

The annual Christmas Concert at Michaelhouse, Trinity St., Cambridge, showcased our students’ talents in an atmospheric and festive location.

pit-bandThe first half of the concert started with a performance by the College Pit Band (Mr Blue Sky, Jeff Lynne and Cantina Band, John Williams). There followed a range of solos, including works by Allevi, Purcell, Kander & Ebb and Newton Faulkner, and ensembles (Justin Vernon, Delibes and Jimi Hendrix). The choir then sang Jersey Boys, arranged by Mark Brymer.

The second half again started with the Pit Band (Skyfall, Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth). There were dramatized readings of Mistletoe by Charles Causley, and The Magic of Christmas by Tom Krause, and further solos of works by Eensco, Haydn, Schubert and a Ukrainian traditional carol. The choir sang Hush! My Dear, Lie Still and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Blane and Martin), there was a Bible reading: John 1:1-14, and the concert ended with a community carol, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
