Andy Farrer, who studied PE, Business and Biology at Long Road came to talk to our PE and Sport students about volunteering opportunities at Cambridge United. After Long Road Andy took a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath, a four-year course which includes a placement.
Andy’s placement was in a township in rural South Africa. This was a scheme set up by the Premier League, who paid for an astro to help bring together the black, white and coloured communities through the medium of football. Andy also spent time in Tanzania.
Andy joined Cambridge United straight after university. He explained to our students about the volunteering programmes run by the club, including one for people with disabilities and the Active Sport Science programme run in local primary schools.
