Biology students attend inaugural EMBL talk in the UK

Posted on

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), based in Heidelberg, Germany, is one of Europe’s foremost laboratories for research in this field. Every year it holds a series of lectures to inform young people about current trends in life science research and to show how research is influencing our daily lives.

This year, for the first time, the lecture was held at EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute in Hinxton, near Cambridge, and our Biology A level students were able to attend. The subject of the talk was ‘Genomics and Big Data: Transforming our Understanding of the Processes of Life’ and was given by Professor Ewan Birney, who is Director of the Institute.
