Earlier this term, students on the Level four at Art Foundation Course enjoyed a fantastically inspiring trip to New York.
Staying in a hotel in the heart of the city by Time Square and the Empire State building they were able to access a range of exciting research engagements to help inform their studio based work.
Over the space of 6 days students visited a number of iconic places some of which included The Metropolitan Museum, Frick Collection, Museum of Modern Art, The Supreme Courts, Apple Workshops surrounding video editing, Brooklyn Bridge, Time Square, Ice skating in Central Park, the panoramic views of the Empire State Building, The High Line and viewed the statue of Liberty etc. etc.
The students collected a range of materials which they are now using as a point of inspiration for their Final Major Projects. Most evenings where spent in true New York style in famous eateries such as Planet Hollywood, HardRoc Café and breakfast was in the birth place of the ‘Oreo cookie’ displaying a vast range of culinary options. Students were allowed some down time in between the fast pace of the trip to enjoy the Hotel’s swimming pool or gym facilities at leisure.
The trip was such as success that the 2019/20 applicant intake are already requesting we re-book for their FAD year!
