Applied Science students visit Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station

Posted on

At the end of January, our Applied Science students went on an exciting trip to the Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station on the Suffolk coast.

Students learnt how EDF Energy produces electricity from radioactive uranium and saw some health and safety in action, dressing in the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during their tour. Students even got to touch the turbines producing 1.2 gigawatts of power from the UKs only pressurised water nuclear reactor!

A great day was had by all, with really positive student and staff feedback – we can’t wait to visit again next year!
