This year we took 38 Applied IT students to Bett 2019 it was a very busy show with over 40,000 people attending and over 500 exhibitors. The event is extremely relevant to the students as it not only shows them new software and hardware but allows them access to people who work in the IT industry.
Highlights from this year’s celebration of educational products included…
ClassVR’s virtual and augmented reality experiences which give students full control over the headsets and allow them to create their own content using a portal or access the company’s virtual worlds (including an immersive Back to the Future creation). This will be part of the Cambridge technical course next year.
Microsoft’s STEM experience allowed visitors to write code, create in 3D, build sensors and experience mixed reality. Their AI juice bar used visitors’ reaction, gender, age and mood to customise the perfect juice. Course Team Leader, Richard Cowley, came out as an empowerer and was rewarded with a mixed cocktail of apple and cucumber!
