Today saw the return of Alex Hadlow from the Art Works in London (one of the world’s leading Illustrative companies). We are extremely lucky that Alex gave an informal talk and judged a competition for our students offering Lucy Robinson the winning student from the FAD course an internship in the summer. Alex chose two runners up (Alex Kinsella and Robert Kidd) who each received a print from their artists. Our prize winners from last year have been offered support and portfolio advice from the Art Works since her initial contact here at Long Road. We are extremely grateful to Alex and her support of the FAD students.
Alex was once again impressed with the quality of work and stated that ‘…the work is of such a high standard, the journeys and explorative processes each student has been on really reflects the strength of the Art Foundation at Long Road. You can see students are allowed to develop their own ideas with highly successful outcomes…it has been such a hard task choosing an internship winner but a pleasure to be part of the future of the next generation of talent from Long Road….’
A bit about Alex and The Art Works….Alex Hadlow is one of the directors of the Artworks London. She is an award winning practicing illustrator that has worked on a range of briefs. She has been working within the creative industry since her graduation from the Illustration course at Loughborough University Of Art and Design. Currently, she manages some of the leading Illustrators in the world working closely with a range of top clients. The Artworks Illustration Agency was established in 1983.Since then, the agency has built up a longstanding reputation for excellence and quality in the work that is produced by its artists. The group is kept deliberately small to ensure the best quality work. They are one of the few agencies to encourage the development of graduates through the ‘Startworks programme’, as well as helping more established artists to maximise their creative potential.
