Long Road Sixth Form College has set up an extremely beneficial association with Aberystwyth University in Wales. Five of our students were invited to enter the university’s Entrance Scholarship competition and have been awarded unconditional offers and / or a generous bursary for their first year. Chris Childs, head of Science and Geography at Long Road, who initiated the scheme, says:
“I am really pleased for our students, who will be taking joint degrees in various combinations of Physical Geography, Politics, History, Economics, Biology, Computer Science and Information Technology. This an excellent opportunity for them to study at a well-regarded university in a beautiful and historic part of the country.
“As a Geography teacher, I am also very pleased that Geography degrees at Aberystwyth University were amongst the first in the UK to be accredited by a new scheme launched by the Royal Geographical Society and the Institute of British Geographers. The Politics department, meanwhile, has a top ten position in the UK for student satisfaction in Politics with a score of 95% from the National Student Survey 2016.
“The college works hard to establish links with higher education institutions across the country, and this type of relationship is one where we expect to see growth over the coming years.”
