A career as a Protein Crystallographer

Posted on

Yesterday, 12 of our Year 1 Applied Science students spent the afternoon listening to a talk from Dr Lisa Baker, a Protein Crystallographer from Vernalis, a biotech company on Granta Science Park.

Lisa outlined the route she took to become a Protein Synthesizer in the Vernalis company and talked the students through a number of proteins and their importance, for instance in cancer research.

Students were able to ask questions and were interested in the additional information from the talk on a subject which they have studied and will have to complete an assignment on in the near future.

A big thank you to Lisa for coming to visit our students and we hope to hear more about her interesting work soon!
