Level 2 Applied Courses
This 1-year course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs and will help you to understand the Health, Social Care and Early Years sectors. This course helps you to develop the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to work in a Health and Social Care setting or with young children.

You will study how to communicate well with different groups of service users; considering the barriers to good communication and how these might be overcome.
You will study the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the main client groups at different stages in their lives and what influences those developments. You will investigate the dietary needs of people at different stages of life and what changes need to be to ensure healthy diets at different life stages.
You will study the structure of the human body and practical activities will show you how to monitor different body processes. You will investigate how creative and therapeutic activities are used in health and care settings.
You take on a work placement in either a health, social care or early years setting for 2 working weeks.

- At least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 including GCSE English.
- Students who have not achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE English and/or GCSE Maths must retake these as part of their study programme.
